The Geosciences Association of Monroe Community College has
partnered with Rochester-based Maven Technologies, LLC to host an e-recycling
event. The community is invited to recycle cell phones,
computers and electronic equipment at no charge; some computer monitors and
televisions will require a $5 fee to recycle. Proceeds and donations will
support geosciences-related field trips and guest lecturers to benefit students
at the college. With the exponential growth of technology and a growing
awareness of environmental concerns for computer and electronic waste, the
correct recycling of equipment decreases illegal and hazardous disposal of
these items in area landfills.
The Geosciences Association is a student organization
dedicated to earth sciences education and service. Through weekly meetings,
field trips and community service, association members further their knowledge
and the ideas and aims of the geosciences.
